OK I have a w2k domian server (only one on the network) serving about 10 workstations. Everything has been working fine, now after a power failure I cant get the dns to work properly, I was getting event id’s 4004 and now I am getting event id’s5774. I am running dhcp from my router, on the server I checked, and dns server and client is running.
I noticed I was missing ip addreeses in the forward zone, so I deleted it and re-installed that zone. No results, I then deleted the complete DNS entries, and when I re-boot the active directory puts back all the entries, and I still can not logon to the domain from a workstation.
Tomorrow I will try dcdiag and netdiag from my resource CD akthough I have never used them before.
Any suggestions on how I can get this server up and running with out starting over?
If I have 2 I will just de-promote the domain and run stand alone, but I would like to try and fix it if I can.
