Need help with a slow laser printer

I picked up a DEClaser 2200 laser printer made by Digital. If I test print from DOS IE: DIR > LPT1 it seem to work just fine, but when I print from windows (ME), it is very slow (about 1 minute between pages). Can someone tell me if I can fix it or should I trash it? Thanks for any help!
