I am working on my dads computer. He has a Dell Deminsion 2350 and he is running Windows XP Home Edition. It has been running very slow for months but cannot find anything that is lagging it down. A couple of weeks ago his internet explorer disappeared and we were unable to download anything or right click or copy and paste. His temporary files and a lot more files and folders and programs disappeared also. I contacted Dell by chat with help to see if we could do a wipe clean and reinstall windows they told us no. A couple of days ago we called Dell and asked the same question and the tech walked us thru the cd and we supposedly restored windows. But since we reinstalled his icons are huge and getting lots of pop ups and nothing is working properly. We get error messages saying we have no sound card, that the registry has errors, and lots of pop ups. Would anyone please have any info that could help us fix this?? We would greatly appreciate it and thank you in advance.
