need Nec cdr1400a drivers and cdreader

Tried driverguide, I got the floppy of drivers for Nec cdr1400a and my computer says it needs the cdreader. What is a cdreader and where can I download it along with the appropriate cdrom drivers. Win2000, Win98 and Win95.
HELP
