Need Recommendation for App install

Hi,

I need to install an application to about 800 systems including 500+ being
laptops. About 200 of these laptops connect to network while about 100 or so
connect to LAN via dialup. Rest of the laptops simply do not connect to the
network. Application is about 20MB.

Here is my problem. I know I can run something in the login script (with
Kix) to check and see if the app is installed and if it isn’t, then to
install it. Problem is I don’t want to install this if they are on a dialup(RAS or VPN). Is there a way for me to check the bandwidth on the connection
during the login script and then decide if the app should install or not?
Also, if someone has experienced a similer environment I would like to get
some feed back as tohow they managed this type of activity.
