Need to recover files

I have attempted to load a new driver for my keyboard. In the process, it caused my system to run very slowly and unresponsive. I kept seeing errors and attempted to reload XP, now I keep getting an error in the loading process and can’t even get past the install screen. There are some specific files I would like to be able to retrieve, but since I can’t get past the install screen, I’m lost. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have tried to revert to last known good configuration, but that hasn’t worked either.
