Need to retrieve data from a 2nd sata hd

Hi,
I just built a computer with a gigabyte GA-M61SME-S2 motherboard. I want to add a 2nd hard drive (both are Sata) and retrieve as much info as I can from it. The old disk has the same xp installation on it.

I have the bios set to boot only from the first sata drive, so everything starts up fine.

the bios sees the old HD, but can’t say what the size of the drive is. And windows pro xp sp2 doesn’t see the drive (or, of course, assign a letter).

The raid is disabled in the bios. that didn’t help.

any ideas? thanks!
