need to update usb support WIN 98

hi,i have been advised that i need to update the USB support on my PC to get my Canon s200 USB printer to work.I have no USB ports on-board,instead i am using a PCI to USB adapter card
which is a known working device as it runs an external modem.The printer is listed under USB controllers in device manager,but runs via the chipset,hence the “invalid access to memory location” error message.Canon advised me to get the USB support updated by the PC manufacturer but the manufacturer is unknown and PC is not under warranty,OS Windows 98 first edition.Please help
