.Net framework install failed

Installing .Net framework from windowsupdate onto a Windows 2000 Server fails. The info provided after the failure lists the .Net framework system requirements.

The “latest service pack” is required. The server is only at SP2 for Windows 2000,so this is probably why the .Net framework will not install.

Why, however, does the install of the .Net framework on Windows 2000 Professional machines with SP2 only work?

Not sure exactly why it won’t install. Further info desired.
