NET SEND COMMAND

Can anyone please give me an example of the Net Send command. I keep trying to send messages to people on my lan, however it dosen’t work and all the machines have the messenger service enabled. I really think it is the command that I am not typing correctly. NET SEND bla bla bla, please help?
