net use from 98 to NT

by turambar386 . Updated 25 years, 1 month ago

Hey folks. From a Windows 98/ME system, I
need to be able to map drives to shares on
servers in an NT domain. I do not want the
Windows 98/ME clients to actually join the
domain, however.

In WinNT, you can use the /user parameter of
the NET USE command to specify a user name to
connect as. However, there does not appear
to be a matching function in the Windows
98/ME net use command.

I have tried simply logging on locally to the
Win98 machine with a user name and password
that exists on the NT domain, thinking that
it would pass the credentials through.
However, it did not appear to work, and just
tells me that the password is incorrect.

A cool 1000 points to anyone who can tell me
how to map drives to these shares. Another
1000 points to anyone who can tell me how to
run domain admin apps (server mgr, user mgr)
from a Windows 98 system that does not belong
to the domain.

TIA
