Netdiag results quandry

by dburress1 . Updated 24 years ago

I have a problem on my LAN with 3 of 4 workstations, (Win2K Pro not Server is my OS) that access the internet via a cable router (linksys) and cable modem (Motorola SB4100), ISP (Comcast). Netdiag says that no gateways are reachable: “excerpt from netdiag /v”
“Default gateway test . . . : Failed
Pinging gateway 192.168.1.1 – not reachable
No gateway reachable for this adapter.”

Ironically, I can ping this gateway from a command line with no problem on these workstations.

If I take the router out of the picture all together by connecting any of the problem workstations directly to my cable modem and let the ISP supply the IPs, I get the same problem but for a different, altough command-line pingable, IP address. All NICs are set to Win2K defaults with regards to DNS, etc. The cable router is also defaulted.

I need help in resolving why only 1 machine of the 4 workstations pass all of the netdiag tests. When all 4 are configured the same.

Thanks for any help provided.
