I have a Windows 2000 machine running service pack 1 with Netscape 4.08 installed. When I try starting Netscape (logged on as a standard user)I get an error message “Failed to update the System Registry. Try using REGEDIT” then the home page does not load until I hit the Home button.
This error message does not appear when logged on as a user with administrator privledges.
I have tried changing the permissions to a couple of keys in the registry though so far have had no luck. I also can’t seem to find any documentation on technet or else where relating to this problem.
The enviroment in which the computer is running in restricts the use of Netscape Communicator, so installing it is out of the question. I have not tried upgradingto Netscape 6 as reports I have read do not recommend it.
Any other suggestions as to what might be the problem?
