NetShield AutoUpdate through MS Proxy?

by eric.stroo . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

I’ve been trying to get NetShield’s Automatic DAT Update feature to work for some time now, but unfortunately without any success until now. The address used to obtain the update is: ftp.nai.com/pub/antivirus/datfiles/4.x and the connection to the Internet is made via Microsoft Proxy Server on port 80.

In my opinion it is very likely a problem with MS Proxy Server 2.0, since the file delta.ini is created in a temporary directory, but it remains empty (0 kb). Somehow the content of the file is not getting through. When I try to download it by manually logging in to ftp.nai.com, there isn’t any problem at all.

The NetShield Activity Log provides the following information:
22-3-01 12:10 Update QUATRO\Administrator Locating installation and temp directories.
22-3-01 12:10 Update QUATRO\Administrator Initializing the Internet subsystem.
22-3-01 12:10 Update QUATRO\Administrator Connecting to the remote host.
22-3-01 12:10 Update QUATRO\Administrator Incremental Process Started
22-3-01 12:10 Update QUATRO\Administrator Incremental Process loading required Libraries
22-3-01 12:10 Update QUATRO\Administrator Retrieving the update file ‘DELTA.INI’.
22-3-01 12:10 Update QUATRO\Administrator Retrieving the update file ‘delta.ini’.
22-3-01 12:15 Update QUATRO\Administrator Incremental Process finished (4)
22-3-01 12:20 Update QUATRO\Administrator An unknown error occurred while reading from the remotesystem and the connection was dropped.

The connection to the Internet is made via Microsoft Proxy Server on port
80.

I hope someone can help me out…
