Network card problems

I had a peer to peer win 98 network running fine and decided to setup a NT network with a sever and a workstation for training purposes. On both my server and workstation the event viewer says my network card (intel 82557) failed during startup.The device supposedly isn’t functioning. NT located the card itself when it searched for one. Do I need specific drivers for the network card to make it work.
