Network Cards and Mapped Drives

After mapping a drive to a Domain controller (NT 4.0)Server from a Win98 W/S the mapped drive drops off after a few days… It allows me to see the server files and go on the Internet, but will not allow a re-mapping until I put in a new NIC in W/S… Can you give me so direction?
