Network Connection issue

by gregorywalker3 . Updated 18 years, 8 months ago

I have a company with 4 PCs, 1 is running 2 are running windows xp and 2 are running windows 2000. I have the 2 windows 2000 and 1 older windows xp connected just fine through a router that is connected to a DSL internet connection via a network cables. We just purchased a new Dell Vostro pc with windows xp and I installed an 8 port switch to into the last port on the router and I connected the newest PC to the switch. I receive an internet connection just fine but I am un able to access any other pcs on the internal network from this pc, nor am I able to access this pc from any other PC on the network. I can see the work group on the network and the other pcs but I cannot access them, I receive an error on the pc stating that this user does not have the authority to access the data on the the networked pc when I try to connect a drive. Can some one help me. I connected the 1st 3 just fine approximately 3 months earlier and I am performing the exact same steps for this pc but I am receiving an error which looks like a security error but I cannot correct it. Please help.
Thanks,
Greg
