Platform: Intel STL2 motherboard / 2x P3-800EB / 512MB Registered ECC RAM / W2kServerSP1 / Intel 82559 on-board NIC / HP C15554C-B DDS3 drive/ Maxell DDS-3 tapes, Veritas Backup Executive 8.5
Problem: During the backup process on the server, local folders only, network services of the domain controller are disconnected. Specifically, the server is not seen via the ping utility from the clients, nor can the server ping the clients. It can ping its own IP address. The backup process completes successfully, and the server remains disconnected. Review of the Services that might have been stopped reveals nothing. There are no messages in the Event log that would indicate a loss of network connectivity. The current remedy is to performa warm reboot of the server. Following completion of the reboot, all is well again, however the clients must logon again to establish connections to the network resources. I have several other W2K installations, and have experienced no difficulties using VBE 8.0/8.5. Please help. This client is important to me and I need to resolve this ASAP. Thanks to all who reply.
