Network drive mapping problems – HELP!

by shanna . Updated 24 years, 4 months ago

We recently added a second server to our site. All our staff had 3 drives mapped via logon script to our old server which I have updated to point to the new server’s shares. Unfortunately, we’re now having “mystery” shares appearing that are pointing to the old server, to the point where all the drive letters are now used up.

The drive mapping command I’m using in the logon script is as follows:

net use I: \\servername\sharename /persistent:no

The mystery drives that are appearing are pointing to the same share on the old server (which, unfortunately, cannot yet be taken out of service), as well as a share that (to my knowledge) has never been used as a network share. Is there anyway to permanently eliminate the maps to the old shares through the scripts, or must I do it manually?

I’m not sure why this is suddenly occurring, and it is becoming very annoying to the staff, so any assistance would be grealty appreciated.
