Network Error at client logon

by kurt g . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

We recently got hit with the Nimda worm and it caused some problems in our domain. After applying the appropriate patches and cleaning our systems, some Win9x users are experiencing errors during logon. Specifically, these users are getting a popup window that says “Network Error”. I have checked the DC replication and it is fine. I’ve also added an entry into the client PC’s LMHOSTS file to get them to authenticate to the PDC (didn’t work either). I can logon at any of these stations withan administrative account.

Also, it seems that the error is occurring only to users who have just changed their domain password which was expiring (domain policies). I have checked in USRMGR to see if these accounts are locking out and they’renot.

I also tried deleting the local Windows Profile with no success.

I’m out of ideas, anyone have any other thoughts?

Thanks,
Kurt
