I have a network here at the office I work at that I take care of. This is a Windows 2000 Server Network with 3 Win98 computers, 1 Win2000 computer, and 1 WinME computer. I have two hubs on this network, a DSL router, and an HP Printer with HPJetDirect. The WinME computer has an HP NIC card, two Win98 computers have a Linksys card, the server has a linksys card, and the Win98 and Win2000 computers have generic cards. All of these cards are 10/100 cards. The DSL router is 10 MB/s and so is the HP printer. One of the hubs is a Linksys 10BaseT and the other hub is a Linksys 10/100.
I am running a NetBEUI network on the server for our LAN. I am running a TCP/IP network just for internet use. Also the printer is on the network with a TCP/IPconnection through the 10 hub to the server. I am attempting to do away with the 10BaseT hub and go to the newer 10/100 AUTOSENSING hub. When I do this, only the server and one win98 machine with linksys card work. What I mean by work is that they connect and the network/internet works fine with no problems. However, when I plug in any of the other computers to the new hub, they read as 100 and it shows this on the card and the hub, but my network does not work. These computers can not see the network or the server. The DSL router is connected to the new hub with a crosslink cable and works fine. The old hub is now plugged into the uplink port on the new hub. I also have all of the computers that will not work on the 10/100 hub plugged into the 10 hub. If at all possible, I would like to plug them all into the new hub and do away with the old hub. Network is working fine as is, only have problems when attempting to do away with old hub.
Thanks in advance!
