Network interface bottleneck

I have a database server that has a bottleneck in the network interface. I would like to add another NIC to the machine. OS is Win2k Server standard edition. DB is SQLServer 2K standard edition.

Is it possible to bind 2 NICs to the same IP address? How? Does it require
special NICs or software?

If not what is the best configuration to have the server use both NICs?
