We have several machines that run W98. I’m familiar with the Network Properties dialog box where I can choose “Client for Microsoft Networks” instead of “Windows Family Logon” for the Primary Network Logon (drop-down list).
One machine (after a Windows Update) has recently began to display the Windows Logon dialog box instead of the Network Logon dialog box.
I have a work-around that will allow me to make the o.s. display the Network Logon, but it only lasts for one boot cycle. The next time I boot the machine it goes back to the Windows Logon.
My work-around is simply to boot up, logon without the network, then go to the Network Properties dialog, open the Primary Network Logon drop-down, and select “Client for Microsoft Networks” (even though that is exactly what is already selected anyway)!
When it reboots it will display the Network Logon, but as I said, it only last for one boot cycle.
So to summarize my question, how do I make W98 display the Network Logon dialog box without reverting back to the Windows Logon dialog box?
