Network places & workgroup failure

I set up a shared Internet connection on my Win2K machine but now I can not get the “net work places” to function. I can also not acces a networked printer, or use network messageing. All other machne on network recognize the WIN2K computer is part of the workgroup but I can not access other computers from the Win2K. I can force the connections but it will not automatically search for the other computers.

HELP!.

I can restore from scratch abd start re-installing applications from a C: drive BU but wiuod preferr not to.
