Network Printer Disappears in Win 2000

by astromusicman . Updated 23 years, 11 months ago

I have 4 school computer labs with 24 Windows 2000 machines each which log into an NT4 domain. One of the computers in each of the labs has a printer installed and shared for the other machines in the room to use.

Unfortunately, after I install the printer as the administrator on each of the clients in the room, and log on as another user, the printer is gone and must be re-installed again for the next user (most of whom do not have administrative privilege on the network). I am simply unwilling to install the printer for each user as there are 400 users per building (with around 100 different computers means 40,000 individual installations). I need some way to allow all of these users (who do have a common login script) to access eachof these printers depending on the lab they are using at the time of printing. I have tried making a default profile with the printer installed and it has not worked so far.

I’m really up against the wall and could use some help on this.
