Hello, I am currently have a bit of trouble with one of our network printers, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Server: Windows 2000 SP2
Printer: HP 8550
Drivers: Installed 4.3.2.201 (latest)
Port: TCP/IP
Basically what happens is whenever one of the printer consumables needs replacing i.e. the Drum, the server decides that the printer is no longer operable – and therefore stops the printer.
I guess it is treating the printer message as critical, however we use to let the printer continue on for quite sometime until we were satisfied that it really did need replacing.
This creates a bit of a problem, especially if no one has time to replace it immediately, or if we have none in stock (rarely happens).
We can get around it by opening and closing the printer door, this allows the printing of 10-20 extra pages – however this is time consuming, as anyone who has used a 8550 would know.
If any one knows how to set the server to “overlook” this message and allow printing to continue that would be great.
