Network Synchronicity & Permissions Loss

by rdgo_tech . Updated 23 years, 1 month ago

Detail – I have a small LAN using 2K AdvSvr and NT4 with an XPpro. All of the PCs will maintain ability to use the network with the exception of my XP machine. XP has apparently lost its ability to maintain sync with the network, and along with this issue, it also now tells me that (as Admin) I no longer have permission to use the shared printer on that PC. XP will not maintain its time sync with the main PDC, and now when I log in on XP… it takes forever to watch the login process complete itself.. Of course, the Local Admin profile is very, very quick… but nothing on the LAN login side will be anywhere near as quick… which must be a part of the main problem…
Solution – I have (three times) rebuilt the computer from scratch, which fixes the issue on a temporary basis. I have also gone to the point of removing the PC from the Domain, then rejoined, which had an even shorter fix time on this issue. The last time, I went thru the deletion of my profile on the XP computer and remade it,.. and this didn’t achieve anything real.

I am looking on the Knowledge Base, but nothing is showing itself worth what I deem necessary.

So,.. have any of you seem this problem? It does not want to validate itselfon the Domain any longer… When I go to Active Directory, I cannot “manage” the XP computer.. yet I can do all others… IF I rejoin the PC to the Domain, I can mange but only for a short duration.

ANY SUPPORT from the gang here would be appreciated (in advance)… I will keep posting more data and excerpts of this issue as I try different techniques.. NOT BEING ABLE TO manage the PC remotely from the PDC is a real issue and reflects something extremely “severe” on this issue.

Thanks,people!
