network to windows 2000 pro

We have a small business and I installed windows 2000 pro. One computer has windows 98. While trying to share info from one to the other while in windows 2000 I can retrive info from the computer from windows 98. But when I am on the computer with windows 98 I try to access the computer with windows 2000 and it ask for a password. When I set the windows 2000 computer to network it did not prompt me to give it a password. The only password I gave the whole system it will not accept. How do I share info from one to the other or why is it asking for a password that I never gave it? Please send me an e-mail or where you post your answers. My e-mail address is comart@ptsi.net.
