Networkin w/hub

I have 2 win 98 machines. I was told I could network them using a hub. I also have a DSL connection. I connected the pc’s and DSL to the NetGear Dual Speed Hub DS104. I can get one pc online but not the other. Also, I can’t get the 2 pc’s networked together to share files. Any suggestions?
