Networking

I just purchased a new “Netgear” card and Cable. I put the card in, and when I plugged the cable into the Motorola Modem, It would not dial out. I can only assume that the drivers may not be installed properly. But, I went into the Devise Manager, and I located the card, clicked on advanced, then update drivers, rebooted, and it still is doing nothing. What am I missing here?
Thanks. I am attempting to have two computers run off the one connection. I am using Pipeline.
