I have a Dell Dimension with a 3COM905C NIC. The Dell came with Win98 3 years ago. I’ve networked this desktop with several other computers in my home through a D-Link hub. Just recently, I reformatted the hard drive and installed Win2K. I got all new drivers off the web (via Dell) and installed them. Now I can no longer connect to other computers on my home network. I can ping the loopback IP address (127.0.0.1), however, when I go to ping any other IP I get an error code 65. Dell is lost at what could be going on. Do any of you IT professionals have any ideas on what could be going on???? Everything else on the desktop seems to be running just fine. The 3COM NIC diagnostic utility says the NIC is working just fine. In Device Manager, everything appears just fine. I’m stumped.
