Networking two Computers

I have two computers with win 98SE, Networking is somthing that I never really got involved with. I have two NIC cards both identical – PCI. Both of them are DFE-530TX+Fast Ethernet Adapters, I also have quite a distance between the two so I also got 75ft of RJ-45 cable to connect the two.
My question is where do I start and where do I end? Installation of the cards and drivers are no problem, it’s everything inbetween I’m not to sure about. Can I get any help here?
