Networking XP

i have been trying for one solid week now to pu XP on my network. What has happened is that i have been able to put Win2K, Win 98 but funny enough i can not put the XP Laptops on the network. They at one time were able to see the other pcs, but now they completely cannot.
windows Xp Professional.
