networks and windows me

i am running windows me on 4 of my network computors and when we use the network for file shareing ,swapping, or any of a number of task,windows me seems to hard lock and i can only reboot. so i need to know if there is a work around and or patch tofix this problem.
the computors i have running on win 98 don’t have any problems with the network.
