new computer hhd wont work

well i really dont know whats wrong i got a new hhd for my new computer, and after a week it started to make ticking sounds and broke down on me, at first i thought it was a fan problem because my hhd was brand new so i added another fan, i did that 2day so if anyone has any other suggestions as to what it might be
