I have just got a new HDD – i have formatted it and transferred my working system to it use partition magic pro 7.0. The system was transferred by copying the whole of the old HDD to the new drive and then resizing the partition to fill the new HDD.
The process detailed above has worked with Win 9x, but not with Win XP due to “sticky drive letters”. When i boot the system if the old HDD is attached the machine will boot using the programs and info from the old drive.
How do I change the drive letter of the new drive to C: (its currently H:) so that the machine will boot. I have changed the drive letter using Partition Magic, but this seems to fail (perhaps i am doing this step wrong)
I know some ppl will tell me just to reinstall my whole system – i really dont want to do this. My machine is currently v stable and just needs some more space on the system drive.

Jumper settings for master / slave correctly set
Biossettings for booting from the new drive correctly set.
