I just sold two systems exactly the same, no problems at all with the first one. Second one I used a new XP Pro disc. Problem was would not shut down, I put it down to Nortons, uninstalled this but did same thing. Did a complete re-install incase Nortons files were still there but same thing. The only difference between the two systems was the disc I was using, as first system used an older disc with service pack 1.
So I used custmoers older disc to install XP and everything okay, but now I will have to use the New disc on her Laptop.
I noticed a question in Tech Republic about something similar and answer was with the new XP discs with Spk2 you had to update the bios. Is this correct??. Does that mean I have to install the disc then immediately update bios??
I do not think it realy matters about sys specs, but they are Asus P4S800MX-SE with Cel 2.6cpu’s. I did notice the bios was dated 2005. Thanks for your comments.
