I’m having a network issue. 2000 is recognizing the NIC, and it’s working properly. The problem is, for some reason, I’m unable to access the internet. I think I’ve pinpointed the problem. A user installed netradio on the computer and 3 days later, he lost access to the internet. I’m thinking this either turned off or on something in the registry I’ve removed the application and have uninstalled the NIC and allowed 2000 to “find new hardware”. I’ve compared all settings of NIC to a similar pc in the same area, and still nothing. My questions is, is it possible to reinstall 2000 w/ out lossing any data or other settings, like w/ 95/98. Just install over current version and repair registry damage. I’m aware of the repair option of 2000, but have only used it once.
Also, is there a way to turn off Autoconfiguration IP Address function, or will it turn itself off when the NIC finds the DHCP Server?
