No AOE

Every time i try to play Age of Empires the game tries to lo0ad and then a black screen with no computer. I have an Armada 4160T and tried to reset the hardware acceleration, updated the video driver to the latest driver, reset the refresh rate for the monitor, but still no AOE DirX Test freezes the system, have DirX 8.1. PLease Help.
