No GUI but the process is running

by spydergst1 . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

Windows 2000 server. SP2 new OS install. I installed Legato Networker. I open networker user with no problems. I installed Open File Manager designed to work with Legato Networker. OFM is from St Bernards. I then opened networker user with no problems. I uninstalled both Networker and OFM. Now I install McAfee Netsheild. Then I installed Networker. Networker starts with no problem. I then installed OFM. Networker user GUI will not come up but I see the process running in the task manager.

I want to know if any one has seen a situation where a GUI did not start but the process for the application is running. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t see this specifically to Networker. Have you seen this with any application? I just need to get a starting point. This happens on NT4 and 2000. I know this is a conflicyt with OFM and Netshield but, I’d like to know if there is a way to resolve this on my own as there is currently no fix for it.

So, in short. Have you see a situation where a GUI does not start but you see the processes running in task manager and you have confirmed all necessary services are running? Please do not tell me to stop McAfee and try the install or to re-service pack the server. Although that might work that is not the path to resolve the problem I am looking for.
