No Internet conn.in XP Normal Mode– wor

I am using Windows XP Pro with a cable modem Internet connection. I cannot access the Internet (mail servers do not work and I cannot access Web pages) in XP’s Normal Mode. I can still ping successfully though.

However, in Safe Mode (which I am in now) I can successfully access Web and e-mail servers.

I have run the network and Internet connection support tools, with no success.

Does anyone have any ideas?
