no keyboard present

Got this bx98-3d motherboard that boots up and say there is no keyboard present, i tried another working keyboard from the other computer and still got the same msg. The mother board doesn’t have a USB port would a USB keyboard work if ever i’d puta USB card on an available PCI slot and connect the said keyboard on it?
