No USB port recognition

I just installed Windows 2000 on a friend’s computer and it won’t recognize the USB ports so I can’t hook up the printer (HP psc2110). The motherboard won’t install the USB drivers or, if it does, says that they are not supported. I had no problems with the USB ports prior to Windows 2000 installation… any suggestions? I’d appreciate any help.
