Not wanting to boot to Windows98

When trying to boot to windows, I get all kinds of error, scandisk wants to continuely run, I can stop that, I get a C:\prompt, put in everything under the sun except the right prompt. Can someone tell me what is the right prompt to put in so windows will boot?
