Notebook suddenly fails to boot

by robincampbell . Updated 21 years, 10 months ago

Fancy a challenge? Any ideas on this?

After shutting down my 2700c Intel PIII notebook (Clevo make) and then carrying it by the supplied carrycase, when I later tried to turn it on the following happened:
-hard disk spins (deduced from noise)
-green power light flashes (as per stand by mode)
-no light from HD indicator nor Num or Caps Lock
-repetative slight clicking noise from CD player
-blank screen
-no bios beep

There are no disks in the floppy or CD drive. The computer has been working fine and whilst carrying has not been shaken or dropped. It is being used in South India but was last used in an A/c room and transported during the cooler evening.

I guessed that something could have been dislodged or it might need reseting. I have tried:
-removing battery and booting from power lead
-removing the power cable and disconnecting the battery for over 5 minutes
-checking the processor and RAM are not dislodged and correctly inserted

Thanks for all your help!
