We have a a RAID 5 disk array of 4 x 9 gig drives that form a single container divided into 3 logical drives. Server is NT4.
Our intended goal is to increase disk space of the array by adding two more 9 gig drives so as to increase the storage space for each logical drive: essentially a reconstruction.
Network tech states that because of limitations of NT 4, even after the increase in size of container via reconstruction, he must create an additional logical drive. NT simply does not allow the aditional space to be extended across existing logical drives.
I am seeking confirmation that this is correct. And whether there IS a way to extend the space of each of the existing logical drives.
I want to avoid the ramifications of adding another logical drive: 1) either dividing WAN users between drives, or 2) splitting the way the profiles log into the system by changing drive mapping for a collection of users.
