NT 4.0 Server Response is Slow

by hotaling . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

I have an NT 4.0 Server running with SR-6a. I am running Abacus Law software with 4 users accessing the database at the same time. One thing that I think might be something related is that Abacus wanted all users to log into the system using the same user ID.

None the less, when only one individual logs on, the server responses much quicker than if someone else is logged on.

Most of the computers that are accessing the server are running Windows 2000 and one is running Windows 98. The computers that are closest to the server connect faster than the computers that are further away. (I believe this is a factor of distance, but the distance is less than 50 feet from the furthest computer.)

What can be done to speed up the server response?

Should I go with my gut feeling and create separate user IDs for logging on to the database?
