NT Error Message

by wblarkin . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

I have recently added an ATI Video Board to my NT machine. (NT4.0 SP6). After loading the drivers for the machine and rebooting, I get an error message now after logging In “ERROR LOADING DRIVER” in order to clear this message I have to end task onit. I did notice that the process which was running is RUNDLL32.EXE, I can also end task on this and the error will go away. Strangely enough.. the colors seem to be correct, HOWEVER, I can no longer get to the display properties. When I attempt to I get the same error message “ERROR LOADING DRIVER”. I have attempted to uninstall the drivers via the “add or remove programs” in the control panel, and stopping the device (in devices – control panel). I have also tried the Safe mode startup -this also did not work.

Question. Is there any way to get back to a standard VGA driver so I can attempt to install a newer or update ATI driver (without having to reload the OS)?? OR How can I get to the display properties without getting this error message “ERROR LOADING DRIVER”.

Thanks for any and all help in advance.
