NT is not detecting 40GB Hard dist

we tried to install windows nt server 4.0 as a member server in 40GB hdd. We booted through cd at the time of creating partion it detects only 8GB. First we made 4GB initial partion for OS. Then we made 35GB extended partion using windows 98 startupdisk. Later we tried to partion the 35GB into two partion using disk administrator in NT. But it is detecting only 17 GB. Remaining 17 GB(approximately) where it is going we don’t know.

We tried to partion the Disk using Windows NT cd also. But we are unable to utilise the entire hdd.

Please give solution to us…!
