NT Print Queue with XP Workstations?

I have an NT 4.0 Server print server, and when I try to install the network printer on an XP Pro workstation it tries to install the NT 4.0 print driver (with an error). There are native drivers for this printer in XP Pro, but if I create the printer locally and try to create a port, the only option seems to be printing directly to the JetDirect interface. Is there a way to use NT40 print queues with XP workstation?
